smoke & mirrors.

smoke & mirrors

our social connections need resurrection

so concerned with

our own complexions instead of our real reflection

creating the illusion of connection

our obsessions turn into lack of perception

the smoke and mirrors of social media

always seeking pleasure instead of asking questions

harmless clicks turn into memory blips

addicted to the dopamine release

instead of creating our own inner peace

pretty petite pictures painted in multicolor building blocks

on a 6’ x 3’ screen

just as easily torn down versus its process of craft and curation

a life created to scroll through within seconds

the value and meaning of time erased

however do you read the illustration’s scripture

each meaning up for your interpretation

creating the new salvation

aesthetic as the new atheist

so concerned with appearances

but what crawls under our skin when we turn the flash off

cumulative consequences of our sensory system

omitting the power of touch for a double tap tap

we are all addicts addicted to our own reputation

classic consumers with no consequence

social media a mirror we reflect onto ourselves

as the smoke of fake dopamine dissipates

let me ask

what happens when the power shuts off?

and the only light that is left

is within you.
